In Memory of Chrissy

Today I'd like to share my space to say goodbye to a colleague and friend at my full-time job: Chrissy Moore.

Back in February, I introduced my tribe to Chrissy by holding a Give Back Mat Pilates class in her honor. Unfortunately, Chrissy passed away on Saturday, April 10 after a hard fought battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). She was awaiting access to a clinical trial in Houston, Texas when she passed. Chrissy was diagnosed with AML in November 2020.

Cancer sucks.

Chrissy offered a delightful smile and a pleasant greeting to everyone she met. She worked for 14 years at a local health care system, where I worked with her on many projects and teams.

If you didn’t know Chrissy, you missed out on knowing a very kind woman, mother, wife, daughter, friend and colleague. She loved Halloween, and always wore the best costumes at work. She also loved to create beautiful window displays (from scratch) for her department—they would make you and take in the humor or love she was trying to give. She was always calm and collective, even when everyone and everything around her was in chaos. She was an instrumental team member on an employee recognition committee, where she was always leaps and bounds ahead of schedule, and I could count on her to remember the smallest of details that made the largest impact. Chrissy not only helped patients with concerns and praise, she also helped colleagues by helping with a program where employees donate funds and fellow employees who are going through financial hardship with a can apply for help. She was a beautiful human. She is missed.

Chrissy is survived by her husband and two beautiful children.

If you knew Chrissy, visitation will be held at Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. Fifth Street, on Friday, April 16 from 4-6; services take place at 11 am on Saturday, April 17, at the Chapel. Burial and reception will follow at Mt Pisgah. Food will be provided; however, drinks and desserts are welcomed.
