Pilates helps you reach your SMART goals
Interested in improving flexibility?
What about having better balance?
Reducing stress?
Or, gaining strength?
I do believe that Pilates is helpful in reaching many of these goals. And, my clients will tell me the same thing.
I recently asked my clients to complete a survey to give me an idea of how I’m doing, and what I can improve on. One of the comments I received (and appears in this image) was that:
“I am glad I started the class. I have seen an improvement in strength and am overall feeling better.”
I love client wins, and I’m a huge proponent of supporting my clients in finding and realizing their goals. But, how do you set a fitness goal? Well, I recently read about setting SMART Goals in Big Fit Girl: Embrace the Body You Have by Louise Green. SMART is an acronym for:
Specific: Consider the “who, what, when, where, why, and how” of your desired outcome for your goal; this will help you clearly describe what you want to achieve.
Measurable: Track your goals against a benchmark so you know if you are getting closer to achieving them!
Attainable: Consider breaking your large goals into smaller, achievable goals that lead toward a bigger goal.
Realistic: Your goals should be relevant to your life, and appropriate for your health and lifestyle. It’s important to consider your lifestyle, resources, current fitness level and available time.
and Timely: Set a realistic time-line. This makes it easier to plan and schedule the time you’ll need to achieve your goal, and will help to keep you motivated to work toward that deadline.
Pretty great idea, right? Do you have a SMART Fitness Goal? Feel free to share it in the comments. And, consider using Pilates to help you reach your fitness goals. Let me know if you have questions.
Pssst: At my next check in with my clients, I’ll be following up with them on their goals, and encouraging them to write and possibly share their SMART fitness goals with me.
