With the right teacher, Pilates is for every body

With the right teacher, Pilates is for every body.

I heard it again today!

"I'm not strong enough for Pilates."

I think you are.

Pilates is a low-impact modality for every body shape and every level of fitness.

Are your hip flexors tight? Perhaps the push-through bar isn’t for you (today). Instead, let's try some bridging. Feeling stiff? Maybe hit pause on the mat workout and let's try some spring to help loosen you up on the reformer, sprinboard or chair.

Not every cue is for you. Putting my heels together right now makes my right knee feel uncomfortable; so, I keep my feet at hip width. Taking your legs out to the 45 make your neck and shoulders tense? Bring your legs straight into the air for a little added challenge. I start everyone off at an achievable movement and encourage you to try a harder movement if it feels good. I also want you to ask me for clarification or a personalization when you may need just a bit more.

I want you to move in a way that suits you and where your body currently is. I want movement to feel good. I also want to know what your goals are, and I'll help you achieve them with personalized programs.

Is Pilates hard? You bet! But, isn't your first spin / HITT / kickboxing / yoga class hard? And then, once you go back a few more times, it becomes more fun and less daunting.

You can’t reach your goals hanging out in your comfort zone. I promise you, with the right teacher, you are strong enough for everything.
